
“I am responding very well to the treatment and I am convinced that I will be entering competitions in the coming month. It has been a hard and sad journey for me, but with prayers and belief, I am happy to have finally pulled through.”
Chabata called upon Ministry of Sports to help unearth hidden talent by holding talent development and identification programmes that involved grassroots, for the development of the sport’s future.
“The ministry needs to hold more talent identification programmes nationwide, like what Dairyboard used to do at growth points. Schools are no longer competing as seriously as they used to do.
“We also need athletics academies in all provinces, while lack of sponsorship, which remains our biggest problem, should also be tackled if more youngsters are to be encouraged to try a life in athletics.”

He has also developed a knack for scoring goals – his club is currently one of their top goal scorers with 10 goals. He was Swallows’ third top goal scorer last season with six goals, which all came from set-pieces.
Its a good news for Zimbabwe that Chabata will be back on running track soon. Injuries are part of sportsman but if it takes longer time to recover then it may destroy the whole sporting career of the player. I have no idea about his injury details but I hope he will perform again in next competition. Thanks
