Headmistress accused of fraud

An audit into the financial records of a troubled school here cannot account for more than R30,000 that has gone missing from the school’s coffers.

The Mangwe Rural District blamed the former headmistress of Makuzeze Primary School for the disappearance of the funds from the school’s treasury.

Villagers forcibly removed Victoria Pasipanodya from her position to pave way for investigations into the problems bedeviling the school.

“Mangwe RDC, under which the school falls, recently conducted an audit which revealed that more than R30,000 of the school funds were unaccounted for. The probe established Mrs Pasipanodya misused the funds at the expense of the development of the school,” read a report by the RDC.

The findings are the latest in a series of problems to rock the school.

Earlier this year, there were clashes between local and law enforcement agents after villagers called for the resignation of the Pasipanodya’s executive after poor results in last year’s Grade Seven exams.

Pasipandodya, who was removed at the beginning of the year, denied any involvement in the disappearance of funds and the declining standards at the troubled school.

She has since laid a charge of assault against two local youth leaders, Busani Sibindi and Mqondisi Moyo.
