Illegal polling station in Gwanda

Reports received from Gwanda’s ward 20 indicate that one polling station which did not appear on the Zec official list, Gwanda bar 24 opened for business, as result only one polling agent from Zanu (PF) was present.

According to the CSOs at a press briefing here this afternoon, the situation was rectified after other contenting political parties were alerted and complained of the anomaly. This resulted in other political parties hurriedly deploying their election agents, enabling the polling station to operate in accordance with the electoral act. Addressing the press conference, spokesperson Debra Mabunda said CSOs had also received reports of poor lighting in mobile tents in North end, Joks Tent in Newton West and Tshabalala extension.

“There have been complaints of darkness in mobile tents. Some mobile tents have resorted to the use of candles and torches because of darkness,” she said.

At some centres posters such as Ntshamathe primary school president Robert Mugabe’s posters were seen within a radius of 50 metres outside the polling station, contrary to the electoral act.

In Insiza posters were removed from Insiza beer garden after 7.00am.
