Mitchell is captain at Worcester cricket club, while Putin is now turning out for Essex Cricket Club, but the Mutare-based outfit wants to use the duo to strengthen their club during the 2013/2014 season.
“We have already started working on our plans for the forthcoming season. We have a number of additions that we would like to make in order to strengthen our team and compete for top honours,” their coach, Garry Brent, confirmed to The Zimbabwean this week. Brent said his main area of concern was strengthening his batting line up. “We are obviously going to look for a few more batsmen to add to the fantastic bowling side that we already have. I have no doubt that we will find the right people for the right places in the team.” The Mountaineers did well last season, where they won the Twenty20 title, but still missed out on the Logan Cup and the Pro50 competitions for the second successive year. They are second in the Logan Cup competition and settled for third position in the Pro50 tournament. In the 2011/2012 season, they bagged the T20 title, but went on to settle for second position in the Logan Cup and ended third in the Pro50 competition.
In his two-year reign as coach, Brent has won the T20 title twice and still yearns for his maiden Logan Cup and Pro50 titles.
