Mtizwa happy to be back

Warriors defensive midfielder Lionel Mtizwa said this week that he would use his reunification with cash-rich ABSA Premiership club, Mamelodi Sundowns, to prove wrong all the “doubting Thomases”.

Mtizwa did not have a fruitful debut season with the Brazilians two years ago, following a lengthy injury, but dusted himself up when he was given a loan spell at last season’s PSL debutants, Pretoria University, where he became a key player and helped power the club to a top eight finish.

“I have signed a one-year contract with Sundowns and hope to use the chance to prove myself to those who did not believe in my abilities as a player. I am very happy that the club exercised their right to extend my contract and will use that chance to fight for even more time. I always knew that if I played well at Pretoria University, I would be given another chance at Sundowns.”

He said there were still some outstanding issues with the club, which he said were still to be sorted out. He rejoined fellow Zimbabweans, Esrom Nyandoro, Nyasha Mushekwi and Method Mwanjali at the glamour club.

“This season, we want to put Sundowns where it belongs through winning the league championship and trophies. Coach Pitso Mosimane believe me and has been assembling the strongest squad capable of ruling the roost,” said Mtizwa.
