Mugabe will pay for insulting Zulu: Mutinhiri

Women will vote against President Robert Mugabe after he insulted President Jacob Zuma’s International Relations advisor, Lindiwe Zulu, said MDC-T national organising member and parliamentary candidate for Marondera East, Tracy Mutinhiri.

“There is no way someone can degrade women like that and get away with it. If I had the opportunity to give a speech at the MDC-T election manifesto launch, I would have echoed Theresa Makone’s concerns over the Mugabe insults,” Mutinhiri told The Zimbabwean.

Mutinhiri said women were likely to protest against Mugabe’s comment that Zulu was an ordinary, stupid and idiotic street woman.

Mugabe accused Zulu of meddling in Zimbabwean affairs, after she suggested that if elections were delayed by a month, it would give the country enough time to address agreed but outstanding reforms.

Mutinhiri’s statement echoes concerns raised by MDC-T chairperson for the women assembly, Theresa Makone, at the Rudhaka party election manifesto and campaign launch.

“Mugabe directed the insults to the female community. He wanted to say that men had dominance over women and can degrade us at will. This is unacceptable,” said Makone.
