Nyadombo has been a shining light since joining Amazulu and although they struggled to stay afloat last season, the Zimbabwean remains one of the reasons they are still in the topflight, his telling performances gaining them a number of crucial points that separated them from the relegated.
Following a busy off-season in which a number of high-profile signings were followed by impressive pre-season outings in friendly games, Nyadombo could only focus at a better year ahead – this time not for him personally, but the whole club as well.
“I have had an enjoyable stay at this club since I arrived, but I wish we could also do well as a team and that is why I believe the new season will be better for us, following the number of new players that have joined the club ahead of the coming season,” said the Zimbabwean star.
“It does not feel good to be playing well when the team still struggles and I hope that will not be the issue this season. Everyone is focused on seeing the club rise to challenge for the league championship and other honours and I believe this will be our season to do that.”
Following a recent 2-1 victory over star-studded former English champions, Manchester City, Nyadomobo said his teammates needed to remain focused and not get carried away, as this would bring in some complacency into the side.
“We have done well during pre-season, including the win over City, but that was only in friendly games and the PSL will be a different pot altogether. We need not get carried away with that victory and fight to do well in the league, where it will be a lot more difficult because everyone now knows we mean business this time.
“That is why I would advise my teammates to remain focused and not get carried away by that win over Manchester City. It was sweet and will go down in our history books, but it is gone now and we need to focus on the job ahead, which is that of doing well in the league.”
