Pirates offload Chinyama

Former Zimbabwe national team and dynamos striker, Takesure Chinyama, is the latest player to be offloaded by a South African club.

Chinyama has been asked to leave Orlando Pirates to pave way for new signings who are joining the Buccaneers for the South African season that resumes in August.

The club confirmed on Wednesday that Chinyama would not be featuring in their campaign.

Pirates have already agreed terms with Lennox Bacelo who is joining the former South African champions.

Although Chinyama helped Pirates reach the mini league stage of the Caf Champions League with great goals, the player spent much of his time at Pirates on the sidelines in league matches due to injuries.

Chinyama joined Pirates at the beginning of the just ended season from the Glamour Boys where he was the clubs' chief striker with his goals for Dembare attracting the attention of the Bucanneers.

Chinyama had joined Dembare from Poland where he had also been offloaded by Legia Warsaw.

During the period he was at Pirates, Chinyama played for the Zimbabwe national team during the time when Rahman Gumbo was coach of the side but was dropped after failing to translate his club form at Dynamos to the national team.

Chinyama, however, could still rejoin Dynamos following the opening of the transfer window on July 1. Premier Soccer League Chief Executive Offiver, Kennedy Ndebele, says the transfer window period will be open until July 31.
