Machingauta was arrested in Budiriro Wednesday morning after he approached the police reporting about his car which was shot by unknown assailants.
Machingauta was driving from Budiriro while carrying female party members.
He is being detained at Budiriro police station .Marufu Mandevere Mbizo Muchadehama is representing Machingauta.
MDC-T Secretary General Tendai Biti told reporters in Harare Wednesday that the move by the police is meant to disable his party’s youth wing ahead of the upcoming elections.
“As I am speaking right now a docket has been prepared aganst our national youth President Mr Solomon Madzore, allegedly for utterances he purportedly made at our historic rally in Marondera.I am a lawyer myself of many years of experience. There was nothing criminal .So once again we see an attempt to decimate our leadership .We are aware that they want Dzivaresekwa constituency, We are aware that they want to freeze Solomon Madzore and lock him up in prison and so we are not going to accept that. If you arrest Solomon Madzore and Costa Machingauta you are infact trying to cripple our youth movement,” Bit said.
Madzore while addressing the gathering at his party’s election platform loanch in Marondera on Sunday said he was ready to shed blood in defence of the ballot.
The Police on Monday issued a statement saying Madzore’s words incite violence.
