Sables team manager Hobson quits

Long serving Zimbabwe sevens rugby team manager Bruce Hobson has quit.

Hobson says he is leaving the team to concentrate more on his businesses which he says need his presence more this time around following the untimely death of wife Catherine.

Hobson who has been with the team for close to a decade says he wanted to leave earlier but decided to allow the team to take part in the 2013 World Cup finals in Russia before leaving.

The World Cup which was held between June 20 to 30 was played at the famous Lizhniki Stadium in Moscow where the Cheetahs won one game against the Phllipines after losing the other two against Samoa and Kenya who went on the reach the semi finals.

Hobson said the time he was with the Sables has been one of the most memorable in his rugby career saying that experience will be etched in his mind forever adding that he will be a Cheetahs supporter for the rest of his life.

The former team manager says his door is open should the Sables feel they need some form of advise.

Sevens rugby team coach Gilbert Nyamutsamba said the departure of Hobson is a big blow not only to the team but also to rugby as a whole as Hobson contributed greatly towards the sport and was more of a father to the players in the Sables team.
