It is a case of second time lucky for Zimbabwean-born Givemore Moyo, 34, who has found stardom with the release of his second album, UJohane Ebhabhathiza.

He and his gospel music group Indumiso Yamakholwa are already enjoying fair airplay on South African gospel channel Radio Pulpit. “I can say that, after our first album did not do quite well in the market, this one has officially launched us in the music scene and promises to take us even higher,” said Moyo, who is originally from Tsholotsho, in Matabeleland North.

“With the support we have been getting from the people and Radio Pulpit since the release of this album, it has become a bit easier for us to preach the word of God to the people, which is our main aim behind entering the gospel music scene.

“We have already been invited to two shows in Johannesburg, where we have shared the stage with the legendary Isaac Maleyi. We are also scheduled to participate in a number of other shows in and around Johannesburg within the next few months, before we can talk of holding others in the rural areas back home to market and distribute our album.”

The most popular tracks in Indumiso Yamakholwa’s hit album include the title track UJohane Ebhabhathiza, traditional 12 Apostolic tune Bazwele Baba, Immortality and everyone’s “anthem”, Izwa Imithandazo, which is a prayer for salvation and redemption from a suffering human being to his Creator.
