Zanu innocent of Chindori’s death: Mutasa

Zanu (PF) cannot be held responsible for the deaths of those involved in road traffic accidents such as the late Zanu (PF) MP for Guruve South, Chindori-Chininga, says Zanu (PF) secretary for administration Didymus Mutasa.

Mutasa told The Zimbabwean recently that the media peddled falsehoods suggesting that Zanu (PF) had a hand in the deaths of party officials on the country’s roads.

Chindori-Chininga died in a car accident recently along the Harare-Guruve road, a few days after revealing how diamonds were misappropriated at Chiadzwa mines.

Despite the coincidence, Mutasa said Zanu (PF) had space for freedom of expression and speech for its members and everybody else.

“Zanu (PF) has a lot of space for freedom of expression. I cannot think of a more democratic party,” said Mutasa.

He said there was no way Zanu (PF) would groom its members for influential positions in post independent Zimbabwe only to assassinate them on the country’s highways.

Zanu (PF) spokesperson, Rugare Gumbo, said: “Zanu (PF) has no policy of killing its people. When one of our own dies in a car accident, our rivals take it as an opportunity to peddle propaganda to tarnish the image of Zanu (PF)”.
