Z.C names squad for India

Skipper Brendan Taylor has been selected as the only wicket keeper in the Zimbabwe Cricket side to face touring India this month while fast bowler Shingirai Masakadza was dropped as Michael Chinouya makes his debut.

Masakadza who has last played for Zimbabwe against Bangladesh on May 5 with some great performance with the ball has been the big surprise being missing in action on the list.

“We needed him against India; he is one of the best fast bowlers we have. It is strange why he was dropped. The exclusion of Regis (Chakabva) is also worrying because as it is we have only one wicket keeper,” said Tawanda Mushunge, an avid cricket fan.

Zimbabwe will host India in five One Day International matches to be played in Harare and Bulawayo. The Harare matches will be played on July 24, 26 and 28 while Bulawayo’s Queens Sports Club will be the venue for the last two matches on July 31 and August 3.

Zimbabwe squad: Brendan Taylor (capt & wk), Sikandar Raza, Tendai Chatara, Michael Chinouya, Elton Chigumbura, Graeme Cremer, Kyle Jarvis, Timycen Maruma, Hamilton Masakadza, Natsai M'shangwe, Tinotenda Mutombodzi, Vusimuzi Sibanda, Prosper Utseya, Brian Vitori, Malcolm Waller, Sean Williams.
