The ZUJ argues in its court application that journalists will be deployed on duty on voting day hence the need to ensure they vote early to allow them to conduct their duties without hindrance.
The union says that some journalists will be conducting work outside the constituencies where they are supposed to vote and making them cast their votes on July 31 will largely exclude them from polling.
The ZUJ lawyer, Rodgers Matsikidze, said they have decided to have the case heard on an urgent basis as election time was fast approaching.
“We have already filed a court application on this matter and we are filing an urgent one today because the date of the elections is fast approaching,” said Matsikidze.
