Apex council happy

The Apex Council that represents civil servants and has been in talks with the government has expressed satisfaction with the improved working conditions promised by President Robert Mugabe.

The incoming Zanu (PF) government promised government workers a 5,3 percent salary increase back-dated to January. Housing and transport allowances will be increased by the same percentage and housing schemes will be provided.

Apex Chairperson, David Dzatsunga, said they were happy with the improved working conditions.

“What matters are the overall working conditions, not the salary aspect of the reward,” said Dzatsunga.

Long standing salary disputes between the government and its workers are expected to be addressed as soon as the new cabinet comes into office.
