Election agents criticised

Following Zanu (PF)’s disputed election victory, attention has shifted to the effectiveness of election agents during the process.

The agents were supposed to be the parties’ watchdogs, recording and monitoring activities at each polling station. However, questions have been raised over their conduct.

“Many of our potential agents were threatened and intimidated and we have the evidence to prove that,” said MDC spokesman, Dougas Mwonzora.

Mwonzora said that in spite of problems with agents, his party was satisfied with the work that that was done.

During the election, suspected state security agents blocked election agents from giving interviews to the media at some of the polling stations.
