Lid over Mugabe's travel arrangements

President Robert Mugabe's travel arrangements to Lilongwe, Malawi where he will attend the forthcoming SADC Heads of State summit on Saturday have been kept a closely guarded secret.

Journalists who are keen to interview Mugabe have been thronging the Lilongwe Airport expecting a surprise encounter with the president after all efforts to get his travel details from the Zimbabwean embassy failed.

Mugabe has attracted the attention of the regional and international media following his controversial landslide victory in the July 31 general polls where he polled 61 percent against MDC-T leader, Morgan Tsvangirai’s 34 percent.

At 89, Mugabe has seized the world with his age as he sets to run the country for five more years.

SADC has already said it will not discuss the issue of Zimbabwe's disputed elections.

However it is understood Botswana is going to commit itself to raising the matter while civil society organisations from across SADC countries are still pushing for the matter to be put on the agenda.
