Masvingo provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Peter Zhanero,
confirmed the arrest and said Crispen was in custody. Zhanero said on arrival from South Africa where Crispen works, he
asked his mother, Margret Tairwo, where his 19-year-old wife, Mashindu Chishika, was. Crispen then proceeded to a friend’s homestead and had a heated argument with his wife which resulted in Crispen assaulting the woman.
On realising he had killed his wife, he allegedly dug a shallow
grave along the river bank and dumped the body.
Wellington Chireya (21), from the same village, is said to have discovered
the corpse three days later and informed police at Zaka police station.
