YOCAF Programmes Manager Precious Mudzingwa confirmed the developments and said his team was excited that Mokoomba will be gracing this year’s festival, describing it as electrifying.
Mokoomba band manager Marcus Gora said that after performing the closing act at this year’s Harare International Festival of the in collaboration with Baaba Maal of Senegal, the band left for a European tour.
Since winning the Music crossroads regional festival competition in Malawi in 2008, Mokoomba has toured more than 30 countries performing at festivals and concerts and conducting music and dance workshops for all ages.
The group was formed in 2007 and combines traditional and modern instruments to create a vibrant sound, with a rich blend of rhythms.
