Mugeyi hopeful

Former national team striker, Wilfred Mugeyi, believes he is destined for greater things in his coaching career.

Mugeyi, who is assistant coach at South Africa’s Amazulu, last week saw his side begin the season with a 1-0 win over former league champions Orlando Pirates. He said this was an indication that their star was rising, after they fought relegation for the better part of last season.

“That win really motivated us and we will definitely build from there, even though we have new players in the team. Surely the results are good and knowing that all our foreign players were still out, waiting for their permits,” said Mugeyi, who works with fellow Zimbabweans in defender Carlington Nyadombo, goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapini and young striker Brett Amidu.

“Our first five games will be crucial, as they will determine the status of our end-of-season position. With the way we are playing, it shows that we are really on a mission.”
