The recount which was supposed to be conducted today now hangs in the balance after Nkomo’s lawyers Phulu and Ncube legal practioners wrote to ZEC on Monday protesting ZEC’s directive for a recount, arguing that the move was illegal in terms of the electoral act.
“The notice does not state whether the recount is at the initiative of another candidate in terms of Section 67A (4) or it is an initiative of ZEC, Section 67 A (4) .The procedure set out in Section 67A (2) (4) has not been followed” reads part of the letter to ZEC.
Nkomo‘s lawyers said their client also feared that the ballot boxes might have been tampered with since she had not been guarding them.
Nkomo who is the wife of Samuel Sipepa Nkomo, the outgoing minister of Water Resources, Development and Management beat Moyo by over 200 votes.

While a recount is ok for Mr Prof to be satisfied, I’d need to advise the prof that battles are not always won by the same people. It is possible that the lady genuinely won the election. Be careful the margin might even widen, kikikikiki!
