Karakadzai died on Monday night near Shangani mine turn off when his Landcriuser hit a cow and encroached into the lane of an oncoming haulage truck which was coming from the opposite direction.
Karakadzai who was driving from Harare died at Mater Dei private hospital where he was admitted following the fatal accident.
NRZ's Public Relations manager, Fanuel Masikati confirmed Karakadzai's death to The Zimbabwean.
"Its true that the general manager is no more .He died on Monday night," he said.
Karakadzai was appointed NRZ general manager in 2005. He was among several retired senior soldiers who were transferred to head parastatals by Zanu (PF).
