Rising afro-jazz sensation

A new songstress, Memo, has emerged from the diamond-rich province of Mutare.

Backed by an outfit mysteriously named Antique, the songstress has signed a deal with management at Vida Da Pass, which will make her the resident performer at the peripheral joint.

Over the weekend, she stole the thunder of other acts as she serenaded revellers at the launch of Afro-jazz Nights held at Vida Da Pass.

Her afro-fusion pop sound is inspired by legends such as Miriam Makeba, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, and blues legend, Ella Fitzgerald.

She gave a solid performance with fresh covers of hits from groups like Ilanga and the Bundu Boys. She went on to perform two of her singles titled “African Woman” and “Mutima wako”.

Memo is currently working on her debut album, expected to be released at the end of this year.
