As we honor our heroes and commemorate the commitment of Zimbabwe’s sons and daughters in the struggle for independence, let us keep retelling ourselves on the importance of preserving peace.
Zimbabwe has just come from a controversial electoral period and people have all sorts of temperaments but it is wise for Zimbabweans to make a political consolidation and make progress in all the important issues which our citizens, especially our young people, anxiously expect. As we honour our heroes let us put aside all our differences and just put in mind that the sacrifices made were for every Zimbabwean.
Heroes day commemorations will be held on Monday with the main function at the National Heroes Acre where President Mugabe will deliver his address followed by the Defence Forces Day which will be on Tuesday, with the main celebrations at the National Sports Stadium. In Bulawayo, the Heroes Day commemorations will be at the provincial Heroes’ Acre in Nkulumane, while the Zimbabwe Defence Forces Day will be at White City Stadium.
