The towering Zimbabwean forward is one of the most in-form players in the local Absa Premiership, after netting two goals in as many successive matches.

The 25-year-old netted in the victory against debutantes Polokwane City last week, before he grabbed the equaliser in a two-all draw against Free State Stars this past weekend.

The two goals, which made Mutuma one of the early pacesetters for the Golden Boot, ended a long-running goal drought that had media and fans doubting his abilities.

“I am happy Mutuma is now living to his potential by scoring goals. He did so against Polokwane last week and was again crucial against Stars. I am certain this is the beginning of greater things to come,” said Celtic chairman, Jimmy Augosti in a interview.

The Celtic chairman explained his understanding of why the former Dynamos player initially struggled for form: “Rodrick joined the team during the January transfer window period. That is a period characterised by pressure as the teams fight intensely towards the end of the season. I commend the coach Clinton Larsen for standing by him during the period the goals were not coming,” he said.
