Veteran Zimbabwean goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapini was on cloud nine this week, after he received his permanent residence permit from the South African government.

“I am happy that I have finally received my permit papers which will make things easier for me in the PSL,” said Kapini, who was in goals when his side beat Ajax Cape Town 2-1 in an away Absa Premiership fixture.

“This means I will no longer be affected by the foreign quota system that has seen some talented foreigners failed to be registered by local clubs. This is an advantage to my career.”

The Zimbabwe captain missed out on the first three games of the season, pending finalisation of his application to be registered as a local for the new season, thereby freeing up a foreign slot.

The delay in being issued with his South African identity number meant that Kapini was not registered by his club until late last week.
