Inside sources told The Zimbabwean that Moyo met with them at the weekend and said he was keen to know why they were living in luxury as staffers had been not been paid for four months.
The source said Moyo carried out an informal audit of the property in management hands, recording vehicle registration books for new cars the ZBC bosses had bought for personal use. These include recently purchased luxury Ford Rangers, which they are yet to use.
“Moyo demanded that all the (vehicle registration) books be handed over to the Ministry. He told them that an investigation would soon follow to establish why management continues to enrich itself while workers are suffering.
“He made it clear during the meeting that he was determined to see things changing at ZBC. It is our strong belief that the Minister is going to sell the cars and give the money to workers as salary dues,” said the source.
Efforts to get a comment from the company’s spokesperson, Sivukile Simango, were fruitless as he did not answer calls. Neither Moyo nor the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Happison Muchechetere, could be reached by the time of going to press.
It is also understood that Moyo has approached Susan Makore, the former General Manager, to return to ZBC. She left to join Supa Mandiwanzira at his Mighty Movies.
