Unlike in football and other sporting disciplines, where the top-placed team in the league competition is guaranteed the championship, rugby sees the top four teams in the league battle for the championship. As a result, top of the table Old Hararians will face fourth placed Matabeleland Warriors, while second placed Old Georgians play against third placed Harare Sports Club on Saturday. The winners of the semi-finals will meet in the final on October 5.
Old Hararians finished at the top of the table with 63 points, followed by Old Georgians with 61. In third place was Harare Sports Club on 55 points and Matabeleland Warriors on 53.
Harare Sports Club are the defending champions after they beat Matabeleland Warriors 22-19 in last year’s final.
