PSL Round-up

Dynamos coach Calisto Pasuwa believes his side’s resounding victory over Harare City in the glamour boys’ last PSL match has set the tone for a third championship on the trot.

Dembare, the defending champions, trooped into the match against the sunshine city boys with tails between legs- after they had been booted out of the prestigious BancABC knockout tournament by underdogs Shabanie.

The development sent chills down the spines of the Harare giants’ fans and the impatient executive, but Pasuwa managed to regroup his charges and lead them into a worthy 3-1 victory.

“The victory against Harare City can be described as a morale booster for the boys and surely we are heading towards another sweet PSL championship. We want to maintain the run and ensure we pick as much points as possible at home. I believe with team spirit we can achieve the feat we are praying for,” said Pasuwa in an interview.

Tied neck-and-neck with City, albeit with a superior goal difference, Dembare now lead the log. The side’s goal at the beginning of the season was however, to shoot to the log summit before end of the first half. In the last 10 games, Dembare are left with, five will be at home and they are still to travel to fellow title contenders like Highlanders and FC Platinum. It is, however, the glamour boys’ weekend match against city rivals Caps United that is likely to be an acid test for Pasuwa. The green machine is in top form and has gone for 10 games without defeat.

They have won five games and drawn in the remainder, giving them a total of 20 points in that purple patch. Interestingly, the last time Caps United lost a match was to Dembare on week 10 and the two sides meet again after four months, with Pasuwa gunning for another victory.
