Zifa pledge Warriors support

The Zimbabwe Football Association recently pledged enough support to the senior men’s national soccer team, as The Warriors prepares for next year’s Africa Nations Championships.

Zifa board member competitions, Benedict Moyo, said the association had rolled out a plan to mobilise financial resources to enable the national team to play international friendly matches in preparation for the football extravaganza.

Moyo said they would have the Warriors in early camp soon after the conclusion of the Premier Soccer League programme in November.

Zifa are desperate to avoid a poor showing at the CHAN, which could determine voting for the Zifa board, set for March 28, 2013, two months after the CHAN finals. The entire Zifa board, headed by Chairman Cuthbert Dube, has come out in the open that they are seeking another term in office.

The Warriors have qualified for the finals but only if they go past the first round at the South African finals will they be seen as different from the other Zimbabwean teams that have participated in the past two editions of the event.
