Chicken Inn want crown

Chicken Inn believe they still have a big chance of winning the Castle Lager league this season.

The Bulawayo-based side is sixth on the log with 34 points, seven behind leaders and defending champions Dynamos, with just nine games to go.

“The recent long break affected our rhythm and had a huge negative effect on our progress, but that does not mean we should remain in mourning,” said Coach Mandla Mpofu. “I believe we still managed to keep ourselves in shape with the many friendly games we played. I could tell from the players’ performance in those games that there is still eagerness and unity to keep the momentum.”

He hoped to win most of the side’s coming games to boost their chances of landing a crown they missed by a whisker when they ended third last season, behind Highlanders and Dynamos.

He said Chicken Inn has capable players, with the likes of Felix Chidungwe, Dan Phiri and Kudakwashe Mahachi, who could do it for them.
