Jamal’s death, a wake-up call

The sad death of the Kurwizi hitmaker, Jamal Mataure, who passed away after a long illness, has been described as a “wake-up call” for musicians in the country.

Urban grooves music producer Joe Machingura said artists often died paupers without money to pay for their funerals.

“The government should intervene and revive the arts industry. They need to transform it into a viable entity where artists can make a decent living and afford a decent burial when they meet their maker,” he said.
