“People should be aware that the Miss Zim-SA pageant seeks to exhibit the talent and beauty of young Zimbabwean women based in South Africa, and is being held in Johannesburg December 7, following an outcry from Zimbabweans after the pageant was not staged last year,” said pageant director Thamsanqa Ncube. “We are working hard to include every Zimbabwean in South Africa, as we want the pageant to be moved from city to city.”
Ncube believes the pageant will also seek to create a partnership between the Zimbabwean communities that live in Johannesburg and local South Africans, in a bid to reduce a wave of xenophobia that threatens to tear communities apart.
Sphiwe Sibiya of Showoffs Company, who will help and train the models, urged youngsters to come forward for the opportunity of a lifetime.
“All those interested in modelling mustn’t delay in contacting us as we there to mould their future. We will definitely try our best to help youngsters reach higher levels in modelling,” said Sibiya.
Contestants must be over 18 and either hold Zimbabwean identification documents or go through a screening exercise.
