Mushore wins Bulawayo grand prix

National Champion Emerald Mushore is the winner of the Bulawayo chess held over the weekend from the 26th-27th of October at Eveline Girls High School. He won 6 games and drew his final game against Bismarck Bhobhojani. Bismarck eventually came second with 6 points.He drew two games and won 4 games.

Kudakwashe Sibanda of Bulawayo was also tied on second position with 6 points out of 7 games of play. He defeated Dennis Mashukudu in the final round.Lloyd Moyo, Lewis Kahoba Elisha Thabo and Spencer Masango were all tied on 4th position with 5,5 points. Spencer Masango beat Castro Sibanda who has been dominating when the two have met. Castro Sibanda finished with 5 points. There was a tie on people who finished with 5 points. These are Elisha Chimbamu, Byron Gurajena,Takawira Makore of ZPS Bulawayo, Nigel Mabiza,Dennis Mashukudu and Dion Moyo.The tourney had 76 players who took part.

Moving on to special prizes Zhemba Zhemusse was the best scholar with 4,5 points out of 7 games of play. Sifiso Sibanda of Sizane High school was the second best scholar with 4 points .Zhemba of the Glen Norah Knights has been performing well at national tournies and recently at the Candidates Open he was also in the main prizes as well as being the best scholar. The young man has a lot of potential in the game.

Nomalungelo Mathe of Sizane High school was the best lady of the tourney, while Sindiso Nyati was the second best lady. Shakiel Falala of Gifford High school was the best under 14 player. Skhulile Ncube was the youngest player of the tourney followed by Arthur Ndlovu. The tourney was run by Elton Mhangarayi.Zimbabwe chess fedaration is doing very well in spreading the game to all the provinces through these Grand Prix.
