St. Ignatius win chess league

St.Ignatius College are the winners of the Division one ,2013 chess league.They won 9 games drew 3 and last 2 games.They beat their closest rivals Goromonzi High school to second position in both fixtures.

Their only losses were against Mufakose 2 High school. They drew against Mabvuku High in both fixtures before being held by St.Georges College who failed to defend their title this year. Goromonzi High school won 9 games drew 1 and lost 3 games against Mabuvku and St.Ignatius respectively.

Prince Edward came 6th while Saints came 5th in a tightly contested title for division one chess league.Mufakose 2 High school came 4th behind Mabvuku who won 8 games drew 2 and lost 2 games against Goromonzi and St. Johns Emerald Hill. Mabvuku and Goromonzi are the only teams that beat beat Mufakose in both fixtures.St. Johns came 7th while Convent came 8th.

These teams are the ones which were relegated to division 2. Churchill High school are the winners of the Division 2 league followed by Mazowe High school.Both teams were promoted to division one. They will be playing in the elite division next year. St.Georges College B team as well as St. Johns College were relegated to division 3. Kuwadzana High school was suspended for not fulfilling fixtures.

In division 3 Lord Malvern won the division followed by Ellis Robins and Allan Wilson were promoted to division 2 after coming out as tops in this division. They came out as first, second and third respectively.Mufakose 1 high were suspended for not fulfilling fixtures. The teams facing the chop to division 4 are St. Dominics,and Watershed.

Oriel Boys High came out first in division 4 Westridge came second followed by Conway College. The 3 teams were promoted to division 3.Chisipite and Eaglesvale were suspended at the meeting held. ZRP Boarding came out tops in division 3 and were promoted to division 3 after winning the division convincingly. Ngezi,Tafara one High,Harare High and Highfield were all promoted to division 4. We may have other teams joining the league this coming season and the divisions can get up to division 6.
