Following the popularity of the music genre, a galaxy of young stars has been making their way to entertain fellow country folks living in the UK. Among them are singer Trevor Dongo, rappers Leonard Mapfumo and Alicious ‘Maskiri’ Musimbe and music producer MacDonald ‘MacDee’ Chidavaenzi of Eternity Production.
Top local dancehall acts Lady Squanda and Freeman of Joina City fame are also on the list. The video for the Dongo, Mapfumo and Maskiri single Daira was shot by the UK’s Watch House Films and produced by MacDee.
Marrie Jernie Productions shot Lady Sqaunda’s video for her track Squanda Fire Ndini, and the same company created Freeman’s video Doctor WeMagitare.
These urban groovers have been on a mission to improve the quality of their music sound and videos in a move to market their brand overseas.
They join UK-based Zimbabwean artists, including Cynthia Marie, B-Kay n Kazz and Decibel of Chido fame, who used their stay overseas to improve their sound.
