Barrett Electronics was registered in 1987 as a small electronics manufacturing and repairs business and in 1993 the company undertook for the first time in Zimbabwe, local manufacture of electric fence energizers and auxiliary products, all of which had been previously imported.

Patented developments have included up to 60km electric fence energizers with 10 000 volt pulse protection, “ through pole insulation”, compact energizers with built in chargers, alarms, lightning protectors and back up batteries, solar panel charged energizers and security cages for all these electronics assuring the customer specifications can always be met.
A company policy that has always given it its core strength is that all materials and units used in these installations be manufactured locally as far as possible, with the Electronic Manufacturing, Engineering and Installation Branches providing much needed employment.
