Chisumbanje disaster: Only 6 bodies identified

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has managed to identify the names of only six bodies of people who died in a horrific accident on Wednesday after a Green Fuels haulage truck collided with a Mazda T-35 truck along Ngundu-Tanganda road.

According to a police report issued by ZRP, only six bodies were identifiable, while 18 were burnt beyond recognition.

Next of kin of those identified were advised while efforts are being made to identify the remaining bodies.

The horrific accident that has left the entire country awestruck has been declared a national disaster.

Families of the deceased will receive $200 from the government and

$250 from Green Fuel per each body to cover the funeral expenses with the first burial beginning today.

Circumstances leading to the accident are that the T-35 truck, which was ferrying mourners from Chegutu to Mariya village, encroached onto the opposite lane where the Green Fuel truck was coming from.
