Dynamos’ 2-0 win over Black Mambas coupled with Harare City’s two-all draw against Caps United and Highlanders 3-1 win over Shabanie Mine have seen the 1998 Caf Champions League finalists shoot to the top of the table.
Just like last season in which Dynamos pipped Highlanders on goal difference, the same has happened this year with Dynamos finishing on 54 points just like Highlanders and Harare City but the popular Harare club take the title on goal difference.
This means coach Kalisto Pasuwa goes into history as the only coach in Zimbabwean football to win three successive league championships after winning the title in 2011 and 2012.
Upon reflection, Harare City have themselves to blame as they went into the weekend’s game leading Dynamos and Highlanders by two points but sadly could not take advantage of an erratic Caps side that has promised much only to deliver little.
Dynamos will now have the honour of once again representing Zimbabwe in the Caf Champions League where Zimbabwean clubs have not been performing well and have lost the accolade of having two representatives in the Pan African club competitions.
