The misunderstanding arose after NIEEB’s chief executive officer, Wilson Gwatiringa, directed that Mimosa Mine was under both Zvishavane and Mberengwa.
This meant that the money the company gave to the community needed to be shared by the two districts.
But the Zvishavane community is against the move, a decision that has sucked senior Zanu (PF) officials into the dispute.
Zanu (PF) spokesperson Rugare Gumbo said: “Indeed misunderstandings broke out. Mberengwa is claiming a 50-50 share. Agreements have not yet been reached. Discussions are underway.”
