We need to feed the good wolf of peace and kindness

EDITOR – An old Cherokee told his grandson: “There is a battle between two wolves inside of us all. One is evil. It is anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, lies and ego. The other is good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness, empathy and truth.”

The boy thought about it and asked: “Grandfather, which wolf wins?” The old man quietly replied: “ The one you feed.” (Author unknown)

This really got me thinking about our nation. Which wolf are we feeding? Sadly, the answer has to be the evil one. Zimbabwe feeds the wolf of anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, lies and ego.

The challenge is to our leaders, to our politicians, to those in authority and those who preach behind the pulpits of our churches and also to each one of us. If we want to see a heritage for our children and their children and if we want to see the fulfilment of all the hopes and dreams that came from the suffering and hurt that was the liberation war, should we not begin to feed the good wolf? – Nan
