Sundowns struggled badly last season, but the arrival of the Zimbabwean national team duo of Cuthbert Malajila from Maritzburg United and Khama Billiat from Ajax Cape Town has given them new belief.
“The two talented Zimbabweans came to the team at the right time. They are extraordinary and have added fuel to the fire that we’ve lit. They possess rare talent and that has made us unstoppable,” said Thuswa.
“Billiat and Malajila have been at the forefront of our attack, creating and scoring goals. This is a cut and paste combination that we highly needed.”
Malajila has scored five goals and his countryman has netted three so far to help take the Brazilians to the top of the 16-team league with 20 points, something they had missed in previous seasons.
“At the moment, there is no team we are scared of and we can break any defence with the two arsenals we signed this season,” said Thuswa, who took a swipe at the national team.
“There is no way that a country like Zimbabwe, with so much talent, can fail to dominate African football. Most Zimbabwean players we have here can play anywhere in the world.”
