Chinotimba threatens to take stands

Joseph Chinotimba, the Buhera south legislator, has threatened to seize residential stands from MDC-T supporters in Masvingo's Runyararo west suburb, accusing them of selling out by not supporting Zanu PF.

Chinotimba, a self-styled leader of farm invasions in 2000, stunned delegates at a function in Masvingo last week when he threatened to grab all stands that had been allocated to MDC-T supporters.

He made a suprise visit at Vashandi Housing Co-operative offices in Runyararo west,where there was a function to commission an Ecological Sanitation toilet for the unserviced stands in the area.

"I have the power to order the district administrator to shut down all this place if you continue voting for the MDC", he said.

"I have also the power to take all stands that were allocated to MDC-T supporters and re allocate them to people who are politically correct", he added.

"I am being tempted to take all these steps because you betrayed my father president Robert Mugabe. I want all MDC-T leaders and councillors to know this because I am comrade Chonos", said Chinotimba attracting cheers from Zanu PF supporters who were present.

Vashandi Housing Co-operative, which is responsible for housing development in the area, is headed by Zanu PF's Chivi central legislator Levison Gwanongodza.

The MDC-T dominated Masvingo city council has threatened to demolish some of the houses in the area arguing that they were hapahardly built.

The MDC-T has six councillors in Masvingo city while Zanu PF has four.
