Fake cop demanded discount doughnuts

A Florida man has been arrested for pretending to be a policeman in a bid to get cheap doughnuts.

Charles Barry, 48, regularly flashed a fake badge to workers at a Dunkin’ Donuts stall in Pasco County and demanded a police discount, reports the Smoking Gun.

“I did a stupid thing! I showed a badge to get the law enforcement discount off my food,” he told investigators, according to a sheriff’s report.

Dunkin’ Donuts workers told police that Barry was a regular customer who “comes through the drive through and demands a police discount for his order”.

Worker Michelle Hoeltk told deputies that Barry had even turned up at weekends with his family and asked for discount.

Dunkin’ Donuts managers felt he was abusing the system, grew suspicious and finally called the police.

Barry was arrested after a police surveillance operation. Officers seized his badge and gun and charged him with impersonating a police officer.
