Family of murdered MDC-T official accuse Zanu (PF) activists

Police in Nyamandlovu are investigating the murder of MDC-T Organising Secretary for Ward 15, Bhekinkosi Ndlovu, who died of stab wounds Tuesday last week.

Ndlovu’s family accuses Ishmael Moyo, David Moyo and Witness Phiri, Believe Phiri, who are known associates of Umguza MP Obert Mpofu, of murdering him.

The family alleges that on Monday last week the four pounced upon Ndlovu as he walked back from the local shops and stabbed him three times with an Okapi knife. The four allegedly left their victim lying on the ground groaning in pain.

When Ndlovu failed to return home from his shopping trip his wife, Sinqobile Moyo, alerted the neighbors and a search party found him lying in pain along the road to the shops. Ndlovu was also bleeding from the mouth because of the attack.

He was taken to the hospital where he died the following day but before he died Ndlovu was able to narrate his ordeal and that is when he named the four accused. The family believes Ndlovu was targeted because of his popularity as an MDC organiser in the area.

SW Radio Africa correspondent Lionel Sawungeme said the police were still gathering evidence and the case could soon be brought before the courts in Bulawayo.

Sawungweme said Mpofu has pledged to help with funeral costs but it was not clear if the pledge is admission that his associates committed the crime. – SW Radio Africa
