All set for HASCA chess league

All is set for the Harare Schools chess league which start on the 24th of January. The schools chess league now boasts of 6 divisions.In Division one the battle lines will be drawn as the defending Champions St. Ignatius college square off with Mabvuku High school who were third in the last season.

The second placed Goromonzi will be visiting St.Georges College. St. Georges college boast with a youthful side led by Takunda Mudzingwa, while Goromonzi are banking on their experienced Kudzaishe Manyanya who got a rating of 1826 when he participated at the World Youth chess championships in Dubai towards the end of last year. Anesu Gwezere is also another player who can cause some upsets.

Churchill Boys High and Mazowe Boys High are the new comers in this Division. Champions were groomed from this league and we hope to continue churning them out. St. Johns Emerald High team A is now in Division 2 together with Dominican Convent. These are some of the country's highly rated girls teams which are known of producing National champions in the girls division. WCM Paidaishe Zengeni is one of the newest products from this development.

She also plays for the Women's National team. Kwayedza, Chpindura, Maranatha Christian High School, Heritage, Marlborough High School, Tynwald, Zengeza 2 High School, and Dzivarasekwa 1 High make up the 6th Division which is composed of the new teams in the league. Schools can collect their fixtures from Dominican Convent.
