Concerns about Zim security

European countries and the USA are still concerned about the security situation in Zimbabwe after the July 31 elections in which President Robert Mugabe’s Zanu (PF) clinched an overwhelming but controversial victory.

In their travel warnings, European countries warned that the situation in Zimbabwe remained unpredictable and warned their citizens planning to travel here to be on the watch out for outbreaks of violence.

Britain has urged its citizens to keep travel documents readily available and make contingency plans for eventualities. Canada warned its citizens wishing to travel to Zimbabwe to avoid large crowds and in November Australia said that although the situation was calm, there was a possibility of it deteriorating and advised citizens to have contingency measures in place.
