Support for MDC-N dwindles

Candidates from the MDC led by Welshman Ncube say the support base is fast dwindling due to failure by the party to co-ordinate and come up with a viable strategy to keep it afloat. They told The Zimbabwean they were living in abject poverty and the party had abandoned them.

Some of the candidates who contested the July polls claimed that they sold their assets when the party failed to avail campaigning material for the elections. “We were promised that we would get our resources back and the majority of us sold our assets,” said one source, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

“The party did not help us with campaigning material and we used our own resources, but now the party has abandoned us and the party is disintegrating because the leadership is in hiding,” he said.
