Tennis club launches junior pgm

Mantas Tennis Academy last week launched a junior programme aimed at nurturing and developing talented young players. Children from four to eight will undergo basic training free of charge. The academy’s administrator, Vincent Nyatoti, said: “It is our attempt to catch them young and possibly mould them into future stars.”

“It is vital to introduce the game to young children if the country is to go anywhere. We want to see the reincarnation of the Black siblings – Byron, Wayne and Cara. We will start at 2pm and end at 5.30pm every day of the week. Since we are only starting something new and intend to attract as many kids as we can, it will be free of charge. Most, if not all, successful tennis players the world over were introduced to the game at a tender age.

This is the same opportunity that we want to avail to those kids with talent, but who may not have access to proper facilities and mentorship,” he said.
