Chitungwiza gives Chombo ultimatum

Chitungwiza residents have given Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing, Ignatius Chombo, seven working days to comply with their demands or risk legal action.

The residents through Chitungwiza Residents Trust want the minister to publish the salary structure of all councils’ management across the country within the given deadline.

This, according to residents, followed the realisation that most cities, municipalities and district councils were run by greedy and corrupt managers, who prioritised their personal aggrandisement agendas at the expense of service delivery and welfare of residents and ratepayers.

“If Chombo fails to comply with the demands, residents would conclude that the minister was part of the rot and had something to hide. Legal action would be taken against him,” said CHITRUST in a statement.

CHITRUST also took a swipe at Chombo for ‘protecting’ some corrupt public officials by reinstating Harare Town Clerk, Tendai Mahachi.

Mahachi was recently relieved of his duties at Town House by mayor, Bernard Manyenyeni, for insubordination.
